Center gave Rs 8453.92 crore to 19 states for strengthening health infrastructure in urban and rural areas


In order to strengthen the health infrastructure infrastructure in the rural and urban areas of the country, the Central Government has approved health sector grants in 19 states in rural and urban areas. Rs 8453.92 crore has been released to the rural and urban local bodies.

The Finance Ministry has issued a statement saying that the Department of Expenditure under it has released this amount to these 19 states on the basis of the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission. . The amount to be given to the remaining 9 states will be released after the proposal comes from their side through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

The 15th Finance Commission in its report has recommended a total of Rs 4,27,911 crore to local bodies from 2021-22 to 2025-26. In which Rs 70,051 crore is to be given for improving health infrastructure, in which Rs 42,928 crore is to be given to local rural bodies and Rs 26,123 crore is to be given to urban bodies.
